On October 13-14, 2011, the conference "Biodiversity Goes Local" will be held in Budva, Montenegro. The conference has been organised by the European Centre for Nature Conservation (ECNC) and the REC in the framework of the project "Local Biodiversity Action Plans in South Eastern Europe"
' (SEE-BAP), funded by the Finnish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
With appropriate management and planning, sustainable development and biodiversity can go hand in hand to benefit local communities. The SEE-BAP project aimed to demonstrate this by developing local biodiversity action plans in 10 municipalities in South Eastern Europe.
The conference will showcase the local biodiversity action plan approach. At the Biodiversity Action Fair, participants will have an opportunity to hear from the 10 partner municipalities about their experiences and the results that have been achieved. We hope that the conference will result in the establishment of a regional learning network for local biodiversity, and that it will stimulate discussion in other areas of the Dinaric Arc.
