Green Horizon is the quarterly magazine of the Regional Environmental Center for Central and Eastern Europe (REC), published from 1990 to the spring of 2004 as The Bulletin.
Green Horizon assists the REC in its mission to promote public participation in environmental decision making by providing information on the environment and encouraging cooperation among regional stakeholders.
Green Horizon reports on the cases and stories that shape the environment and sustainable development in Central and Eastern Europe. The magazine is useful for professionals working for businesses, international organisations, national governments, local authorities, non-governmental organisations, academic institutions and the media.
The views and opinions expressed in Green Horizon do not necessarily reflect the views and opinions of the Regional Environmental Center for Central and Eastern Europe.
The voice of a region
Green Horizon serves as a common source of information for governments, administrators, experts, professors, businesses and NGOs in this region. It’s also a platform for communicating regional concerns to the rest of the world.
From nature conservation to sustainable business solutions
Green Horizon alerts readers to environmental degradation, developments in policy, changes in society and innovations in business and technology.We provide pertinent reporting and authoritative guidance from experts who work in the region.
Content you’ll find nowhere else
Green Horizon stands alone in the region as a source for illustrated environmental news in English. Our research shows that:
- at least five individuals read each copy, meaning each issue is enjoyed by 25,000 people;
- both current subscribers and targetted new readers desperately need environmental information specific to this region;and
- the readers’ needs mirror Green Horizon’s contents: useful, regional, real-life stories on the environment.
Fourteen years in this part of the world
Since 1990 the REC has supplied environmental professionals with an illustrated quarterly magazine. Building on this know-how, Green Horizon’s editorial team creates each issue with an established network of specialist authors and an advisory board of experts from different environmental fields.
Readers dedicated to sustainability
The bulk of Green Horizon’s readers are environmental professionals and policy-makers who work in governments, businesses and non-profit groups.More than half work in Central and Eastern Europe while the rest are based in Western Europe, North America and Japan.More than 80 percent are active in their careers with an even split between men and women.
