The Hungarian government plans to spend a total of HUF 287 million (approx. EUR 965,000) this year on raising public awareness of the negative impacts of climate change, according to news portal Origo.hu. The Ministry of Environmental Protection and Water has set aside HUF 120 million for events, films and publications, and a further HUF 130 million for newspaper ads promoting an environmentally friendly lifestyle, according to January's issue of the Public Procurement Gazette.
Also aimed at drawing attention to global warning is the Kapcsold Ki! (Switch it off!) campaign, launched at the beginning of January with almost EUR 127,000 of earmarked funds from the European Commission. The campaign features online games, 'flashmob' events and in-store promotions.
