Permits for a controversial, planned biomass power station in Szerencs (near Tokaj) were issued without regard for the area's world heritage status, as well as other aspects related to environmental and nature protection, according to an impact study obtained by news portal Index.hu. For this reason, the study recommends a review of the location and parameters of the investment.
