Poland signs up to whaling convention

May 15, 2009

Poland is now a member of International Convention for the Regulation of Whaling. Not a country with its own whaling industry, Poland would like to join the international community in its efforts to protect whales, according to an official statement from the Polish ministry of environment. Polish law protects all whale species, including the diminishing population of harbour porpoise in the Baltic Sea.
