The Confederation of Polish Employees (KPP) organised a debate about the climate package and its influence on the Polish economy. It emerged during discussions that there is insufficient data to make any accurate prediction concerning the effects of the climate package on the Polish economy — even if there is high likelihood that the impacts could be quite negative. Participants, including Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Waldemar Pawlak, agreed that minimising negative effects is key.
That said, Poland's Ministry of Economy expects a surge in energy-efficient heat and electricity production. According to the ministry, the efficiency of energy production from coal could improve by 10 percentage points, and at the same time bring down cost of CO2 emissions by 30 percent. Achieving better efficiency for energy obtained from coal is key for Poland, given the resource's dominant position as an energy source in the country.\
