Minister of Environment and Spatial Planning Oliver Dulic announced that the Campaign 'Clean up Serbia' will begin in May 2009. A reported EUR 6.5 million have been allocated toward the effort. The main goal of the campaign is to systematically solve existing problems related to waste collection and storage. 'Clean up Serbia' will take place primarily at city and municipal utility companies.
The Ministry of Environment would like to see the campaign coordinated through interaction with local governments, NGOs, citizens and events such as the 'Exit' and 'Guca' festivals. Programme activities will include cleaning up illegal dumpsites, river beds and factory plants, as well as raising eco-industry and recycling capacity.
