Serbian Minister of Environment and Spatial Planning (MoESP) Oliver Dulic announced that National Assembly of Serbia will adopt 15 environmental laws by the beginning of March 2009. Dulic stressed that all draft laws are harmonised with EU directives and that the legal package adresses waste management, non-ionizing radiation, ionizing radiation, nuclear safety, chemicals and biocides, and also includes many by-laws. Minister Dulic highlighted the Law on Waste Management and Law on Packaging and Packaging Waste as specific priorities. This marks the fourth occasion that the pair of laws has been discussed in the Parliament, having passed through three re-drafts.
In addition, Dulic stated that MoESP is negotiating with the Ministry of Education about introducing environmental protection as a mandatory subject in primary and secondary schools, beginning with the next school year.
