On the occasion of World Water Day the Serbian Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning published results of the country's latest water quality analysis, B92 reported. According to results of the Serbian Environmental Protection Agency, the quality of surface water was found either 'good', 'very good' or 'excellent' in 84 percent of samples, which corresponds to the first and second class of water in compliance with national classification system; 16 percent of samples fell into the 'bad' or 'very bad' category, corresponding to third and fourth class of water.
Water quality is excellent and very good the Drivna and Sava watershed, while good quality prevails in the Danube, Western, Souther and Great Morava watersheds.
Bad and very bad water quality has been registered in the water flows and channels of northern Vojvodina.
