As part of the recently launched 'Clean up Serbia' campaign, the Centre for free Elections and Democracy (CeSID) conducted research on the ecological awareness among Serbian citizens. Researchers polled more than 1,600 citizens from 50 municipalities. According to the results, published in B92, only three percent of respondents assign highest priority to environmental issues; about 23 percent of respondents are familiar with ecological topics; but just one in ten is preparted to take concrete action.
In general, Serbian citizen interest in environmental issues is significant, but only in the theoretical sense. In practice, few people are willing to participate in solving environmental problems.
